Welding & Metalworking

Workshop welding and metalworking equipment including MIG and ARC welders, plasma cutters, welding protection, presses and metal-forming tools.

Choosing welding and metalworking equipment

  • Process: decide whether the work calls for MIG, MMA/ARC, plasma cutting, pressing or forming equipment.
  • Input supply: confirm workshop voltage, plug and current requirements and whether the machine requires single- or three-phase power.
  • Output and duty cycle: compare current range and duty cycle with material thickness and expected welding duration.
  • Material and consumables: check supported wire or electrode sizes, gas or gasless setup and suitability for the material being worked.
  • Cutting capacity: for plasma equipment, compare clean and maximum cut capacity with the material you regularly process.
  • Accessories: review torch, earth lead, regulator, wire feed, tips, electrodes and other consumables supplied or required.
  • Workspace: plan for ventilation or fume control, fire safety, PPE, cable routing and safe clearance around hot work.
  • Heavy equipment: presses and fabrication machines need suitable floor space, stability and handling for installation.
