Choosing engine and transmission equipment

• Rated capacity: confirm the equipment can safely support the engine, gearbox or assembly being handled with an appropriate margin.
• Lift range: compare minimum and maximum working heights with the vehicle, lift or workbench arrangement in your workshop.
• Cradle and adjustment: transmission jacks should provide the tilt, saddle or adapter adjustment needed to align the unit during removal and installation.
• Reach and clearance: check crane boom reach, leg spread, jack footprint and under-vehicle clearance before purchase.
• Mobility: wheel size, castor layout and loaded manoeuvrability matter when positioning heavy components.
• Support and attachment: verify chains, brackets, adapters, straps or mounting points required for the component being handled.
• Floor and space: use on a suitable stable workshop surface and allow enough room for safe movement around the vehicle.
• Delivery: review assembled dimensions, product weight and access requirements for heavy workshop equipment.
